Dear Ariel Fans,

aka Bri... I am amazed by The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Not only was the book phenomenal, it touched on how symbols are intertwined in our everyday lives and ..... DISNEY!!

Thankfully, a co-worker lent me the illustrated version, or I would not have believed the symbolism in The Little Mermaid. Ariel represents the struggle of the sacred feminine and Mary Magdalene (the most obvious aspect being the common wavy red hair). The imagineers even went so far as to include a painting of Mary Magdalene in Ariel's underwater room (see below).

The painting, "Magdalene with the Smoking Flame" by Georges de la Tour, further shows the detail Disney continues to portray in his films. To read more about symbolism and The Little Mermaid click here.

If you decide to read The Da Vinci Code, invest in the illustrated version. It made my reading experience more enjoyable and fulfilling!
