Charleston

After the Gobble Wobble, we stayed downtown to grab a beer and see the sights.

The locals had to consult their map, of course!

At least I got to see all the pretty sights, including the coveted Palmetto trees, beautiful homes with wrap around porches, cobblestone streets and church steeples, OH MY! No wonder we loved living in Old Town Alexandria! Crystal City isn't bad, it's just different.

No trip to Charleston is complete without a trip to the Market.

According to The Charleston Cit Market Web site "Charles Cotesworth Pinckney ceded the land on which the Market is built to the City of Charleston in 1788. He stipulated that a public market be built on the site and that it remain in use as a public market into perpetuity." And it is still open today, 365 days a year! Pretty cool huh?

LinkAnd no Charleston visit is complete with out a visit to Tommy Condon's, Charleston's Irish Bar. And, does this bar have character!

Can you figure out what that sign says?

Would You Buy Me A Drink If I Told You?

And how about the plaque below? Can you read it?

How about now?

Yup, that is a plaque marking how high the water was after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. That is pretty high, huh?

Finally! A nice cold beer!

Are there certain places you like to go to when you go home for the holidays?
